  • Choosing the right table legs is not just about aesthetics. To ensure the durability of your setup whether professional or domestic, three criteria are fundamental: height, material, and maximum size of the table tops.

Which table leg height should you choose?

Height is the central element of comfort. A mistake here can make seating uncomfortable or even unusable. Here are the industry standards to help you avoid mistakes:

    • 72 / 73 cm table legs are the great classics. With the table top, you get a table height of around 75 cm, the standard norm for restaurants and offices. To sit comfortably, use chairs or armchairs with a seat height between 45 cm and 48 cm. This configuration allows for optimal legroom and a relaxed posture for working or dining.
    • 90 cm table legs are a rapidly growing trend. The final height of these tables is between 91-95 cm, often referred to as "Snack" height. This is the standard height for kitchen worktops and islands. In the spirit of "sit/stand" versatility, these tables can be used as extensions or side tables in the kitchen. They promote a relaxed, warm atmosphere, perfect for meals on the go. For these "Snack" tables, it is recommended to use bar stools with a seat height of approximately 65 cm.
    • High table legs (Bar height) measure 110 cm high. Including the table top, the table height varies between 111 and 115 cm. They are perfect for having a drink and sharing a convivial moment. For these tables, the recommended stool height is around 75 cm. You can even do without any seat, just standing up.

In a restaurant, to offer different atmospheres and experiences, it can be interesting to have several table heights. Don't hesitate to let your creativity flow with our table configurator!

  • Which material should you prioritize for table leg robustness?

At RestooTab, we have a clear preference for cast iron, and for good reasons. This material is not only robust but also offers excellent stability. However, it is not the only option. Here is a brief overview:

    • Cast Iron (The Expert's Choice): Unlike lightweight alloys, a cast iron bistro table leg does not warp and ensures great stability, even with heavy table tops. It is a long-term investment that withstands intensive use.
    • Steel: Popular for industrial designs, it is strong but can lack the necessary weight for high tables. It is sometimes recommended to bolt steel legs to the floor.
    • Wood: The ultimate noble material, wood brings authenticity and warmth. It is ideal for a rustic style. However, it requires significant maintenance, which is not always easy to manage in the catering industry.
    • Aluminum: The preferred material for outdoor use and restaurant terraces. UV-treated aluminum combines lightness with corrosion resistance, making furniture easy to handle. Stability remains a key point to watch. With its well-designed base, the "Nemo" leg guarantees excellent stability for your terrace while remaining easy to move.

It is imperative to respect the tray dimensions recommended by the manufacturer.

  • The high table Challenge: Stability at Height

The high table format—with a leg height of 110 cm—remains extremely popular in the hospitality industry for social moments. However, the higher the table, the greater the leverage effect: if not properly weighted, it can quickly become unstable and dangerous.

    • The choice of cast iron: Stability first. Cast iron table legs are often the best technical solution to guarantee stability. The density of the material and the concentration of weight at the base prevent the leg from tipping easily.
    • Respecting load limits. Be careful: even cast iron has its limits! To guarantee optimal safety, it is imperative to respect the table top dimensions recommended by the manufacturer. These size restrictions are systematically indicated on our product sheets to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
    • Expert Tip: Still have doubts about stability? Here is another piece of advice: for the same weight, square bases are more stable than round bases. This is an important safety factor that might help you make your choice!

Our team is always ready to assist you in making the best choice. Feel free to contact us for personalized advice!

  • What size table top for my table leg?

For each leg model, we indicate the maximum size of laminate or Compact HPL table tops that can be installed. This maximum size varies depending on the density of the table top material. For a marble top, which is much heavier, you should check with the manufacturer for the maximum recommended dimensions.

By following these tips on height, material, and maximum table top size, you will be able to find the table leg perfectly suited to your project. And if you still have doubts, don't hesitate to contact us for personalized advice: it’s free!

FAQ: Keys to a Successful Installation

Is a table leg easy to assemble? At RestooTab, we know your time is precious. We have chosen leg models that are very simple to assemble: most of our models can be put together in less than 10 minutes by one person. We provide a detailed illustrated instruction manual with every order, and you also have access to a step-by-step assembly video. If you buy the tops at the same time as the legs, the tops will be pre-drilled with metallic inserts and screws provided.

Can I adapt cast iron legs to any table top? Yes, in most cases. Our legs are equipped with a cross-shaped mounting bracket with 8 holes, ensuring a solid and durable connection between the top and the leg. As long as your table top can be drilled (solid wood, laminate, etc.), you can attach the leg without difficulty. We can provide the technical drawing of the mounting cross upon request to check compatibility. But once again: if you buy the tops at the same time as the legs at Restootab, the tops will be pre-drilled with metallic inserts and screws provided, which is the best lasting solution.

Is the 110 cm table leg stable without floor fixing? That is the main advantage of cast iron: its high weight concentrated at the base guarantees excellent stability. You simply need to respect the recommended table top dimensions for each model. This is the "sine qua non" condition for your table to remain stable without needing to be bolted to the floor.
